Once you get some zzzzs...


For me, the moment my child starts taking good naps during the day and sleeps long stretches at night is a day I look forward to the moment I find out I'm pregnant. Not much makes me happier when I am a tired, sleep deprived mom of a newborn.

When I'm in a sleep-deprived zombie like state I'm far from at my best. In fact, I'm pretty cranky and pretty crappy to be around. I hate to admit it, but
it's true. That's one of the reasons (among others) I focus so much of my time and energy on getting my kids to sleep well from a young age. When they sleep, I sleep. When I sleep, life is good. My husband has a happy wife, my kids have a happy mom and I have my life back. I feel good and I can get things done. And how I love getting things done during those precious sleep times. Some things aren't my favorite to do (can you say dishes?!) but others give me my much needed break. Mostly it's reading and blogging and potatoing on the couch (yes, I just made that word up)--ahhh, I love sleep!

So, what do you do during those precious moments of *you time*. What keeps you going?

  1. Blogging, Facebook, and catching up on cleaning that didn't get done when the kdis were awake. If I can get out of the house & just go browse a store I like with no money & have fun being child-less for a bit. :)

  2. My 6 month old just started sleeping through the night. I can't even tell you how tired I've been. No matter what I have tried. But finally it is happening. His naps are finally longer than 40 min and then I can read or blog. I'd love to take a nap, and sometimes I can get my body to relax a bit and do it, but overall I'm an insomniac so it doesn't happen. I can't wait to start feeling like myself again.

    I have a hard time napping too, which made it really tough for me with my first who was a really difficult baby. But it gets better, I promise. And you'll start feeling better eventually. If you can't get over feeling tired once you are able to sleep more and do some things for yourself, I'd check in with your doctor to make sure everything looks ok. Some things like your thyroid, can get off with pregnancy.
